Santos Laguna vs Queretaro

MEXICO CITY (Interstat) — Two clubs mired near the bottom of the Liga MX table will seek a rare victory when Santos Laguna hosts Queretaro on Sunday.

The match at Estadio Corona in Torreon will pit two struggling sides against each other. Both teams enter the contest with identical 3-7-1 records in league play, leaving them well outside the playoff positions.

Santos Laguna, the home side, is looking to build on a recent 2-2 draw with Mazatlan on Tuesday. Prior to that result, they snapped a three-game losing streak with a 2-0 victory over Leon on Oct. 18. Their season has been marked by inconsistency, particularly at home where they have been outscored 8-3 in their last three home Liga MX matches.

Queretaro, the visiting side, arrives with a slight boost in momentum after a 1-0 home victory over Guadalajara on Wednesday. That win ended a two-game skid that included a 4-0 road loss to Toluca. Their away form has been a significant weakness, with just one win in their last five matches outside of their home stadium.

According to the Interstat game simulator, Santos Laguna is projected to earn a 2-1 victory.

Following this match, Santos Laguna will travel to face Necaxa on Oct. 31. Queretaro’s next fixture is at home against Mazatlan on Nov. 2.
