Substitutes Spark Brentford, Wolverhampton to Draw in Season Opener
LONDON (Interstat) — Brentford and Wolverhampton played to a 2-2 draw in their Premier League opener Monday at Gtech Community Stadium.
Wolverhampton’s Michael Kayode opened the scoring in the 22nd minute, but Brentford substitute Adam Armstrong equalized just before halftime. Armstrong then assisted Thiago’s go-ahead goal in the 44th. Wolverhampton substitute Tolu Arokodare secured the draw with a 77th-minute strike.
Both teams began their league campaigns with a draw. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Brentford. Five yellow cards were issued in a competitive match.
