Late Romero Header Secures Spurs Draw at Burnley

BURNLEY, England (Interstat) — Tottenham Hotspur and Burnley played to a 2-2 draw in a Premier League match Saturday at Turf Moor.

The visitors took a two-goal lead before halftime. Substitute Micky van de Ven opened the scoring in the 38th minute, followed by defender Axel Tuanzebe’s goal in the 45th.

Burnley fought back in the second half. Forward Lyle Foster cut the deficit in the 76th minute, assisted by midfielder Joshua Laurent, who received a yellow card moments later. Tottenham’s Cristian Romero, also a substitute, headed in the equalizer in the 90th minute to salvage the draw.

The result defied pregame projections, as statistical models heavily favored Tottenham to win. Both clubs begin their league campaigns with a draw.
