Leeds United Upsets West Ham in Premier League Opener
LEEDS, England (Interstat) — Leeds United delivered a stunning opening-day upset, defeating West Ham United 2-1 at Elland Road on Friday. The victory defied projections that heavily favored the visitors.
Brenden Aaronson opened the scoring for Leeds just three minutes into the match. Defender Joe Rodon then doubled the home side’s lead in the 15th minute. West Ham’s Mateus Fernandes scored a consolation goal in the 90th minute, but it was not enough to prevent the upset. Interstat’s ELO system had given West Ham a 93.7% probability to win.
