TORINO, Italy (Interstat) — Manchester United Women opened its UEFA Women’s Champions League campaign with a 1-0 road victory over Juventus on Wednesday at Allianz Stadium.

Jessica Park scored the decisive goal in the 18th minute, assisted by substitute Maya Le Tissier. The visitors’ defense held firm against the Italian side, despite late yellow cards to goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce and Le Tissier in the 83rd and 84th minutes, respectively.

The result defied pre-match projections from Interstat, which heavily favored Manchester United. Juventus, playing at home, failed to find an equalizer. The win gives Manchester United an early advantage in Group D, while Juventus seeks its first points in the competition.
