PLOIESTI, Romania (Interstat) — Romania delivered a commanding performance Tuesday, overwhelming San Marino 7-1 in a World Cup qualifying match at Stadionul Ilie Oană. The home side controlled the game from the start, with Nicolas Giacopetti opening the scoring just two minutes in. San Marino’s lone goal came from Giacomo Valentini in the 57th minute, briefly interrupting Romania’s offensive onslaught. The lopsided victory exceeded the projection from Interstat, which had forecast a 4-0 win for Romania. The result opens the qualifying campaign for both teams, with Romania securing an early victory.
