LESKOVAC, Serbia (Interstat) — Serbia overcame an early deficit to defeat Latvia 2-1 in a World Cup qualifier on Sunday at Stadion Dubočica. Latvia substitute Vladislavs Gutkovskis opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Serbia responded after halftime with forward Aleksandar Katai leveling the match in the 49th minute. The comeback was completed in the 60th minute by fellow forward Aleksandar Stanković, securing the win for the home side. The victory gives Serbia a winning start to its qualifying campaign, while Latvia begins with a loss.
