VASTERAS, Sweden (Interstat) — Vasteras SK opened its Superettan season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Varbergs GIF on Saturday at Hitachi Energy Arena. The home side overwhelmed the visitors, scoring three times in an eight-minute span early in the second half to secure the win. Erion Sadiku, Julius Johansson, Taonsa Axel and Mikkel Ladefoged each scored for Vasteras SK, while Sidy Sow added a late goal. The lopsided result defied a pregame projection that forecast a closer match, easily surpassing the simulated score of 2-1. Vasteras SK begins the campaign at 1-0, while Varbergs GIF starts 0-1. Jonathan Ring of Vasteras SK received a yellow card in the 66th minute.
