VIGO, Spain (Interstat) — Robert Lewandowski came off the bench to score a hat trick and provide an assist, powering Barcelona to a 4-2 victory over Celta Vigo on Sunday in the Spanish La Liga opener for both clubs at Estadio Abanca Balaídos. The visitors overcame an early deficit after Sergio Carreira’s 11th-minute opener for Celta. Lewandowski equalized in the 37th, and after a Borja Iglesias goal for Celta, Barcelona took control with two more before halftime, including a strike from Lamine Yamal. Lewandowski completed his hat trick in the 73rd minute. Barcelona’s Frenkie de Jong received a red card in stoppage time. The result defied a pregame projection that heavily favored Barcelona.
