Twente, Excelsior Open Eredivisie Campaign with Scoreless Draw in Enschede
ENSCHEDE, Netherlands (Interstat) — Twente and Excelsior opened their Eredivisie seasons with a 0-0 draw at De Grolsch Veste on Saturday, Jan. 24, 2026, a result that heavily defied pre-match projections.
Interstat’s game simulator had predicted a 2-1 win for Twente, whose probability to win was calculated at 96.8%. Neither side could break through, however, as both clubs began their league and overall campaigns with a draw.
The match featured limited offense but notable discipline issues. Excelsior substitute Adam Carlén received two yellow cards, in the 46th and 80th minutes, resulting in a red card. Twente defender Mats Rots was also booked in the 55th minute.
