UTRECHT, Netherlands (Jan. 22, 2026) (Interstat) — Substitute Zakaria El Ouahdi delivered a goal and an assist to power KRC Gent to a 2-0 road victory over FC Utrecht in Europa League play Thursday at Stadion Galgenwaard.

El Ouahdi broke a scoreless tie in the 54th minute. Fellow substitute Daan Heymans added a second-half goal, assisted by El Ouahdi, to seal the win. Gent forward Adrian Blake recorded an assist but also received a yellow card in the 46th minute. El Ouahdi was booked in the 62nd.

The result defied a pre-match projection that favored the hosts. Gent opened its Europa League campaign with a win, while Utrecht began with a loss.
