Porto Rallies Late to Upset Malmo in Europa League Opener
PORTO, Portugal (Dec. 11, 2025) (Interstat) — FC Porto opened its Europa League campaign with a 2-1 comeback victory over Malmo FF on Thursday at Estádio do Dragão, defying heavy pre-match projections.
Samu Omorodion scored twice in a six-minute span late in the first half, netting in the 30th and 36th minutes to give the hosts a lead. The Swedish side Malmo, which statistical models heavily favored to win, pushed until the final moments. Defender Moura scored in the fourth minute of second-half stoppage time to cut the deficit.
The result gave Porto a winning start in European play this season, while Malmo began with a loss. Substitutes Busanello and Jens Stryger Larsen each recorded an assist for Porto. Both were also shown yellow cards in the second half.
