MANTOVA, Italy (Dec. 21, 2025) (Interstat) — Substitute Marco Nasti scored the lone goal in the 67th minute to propel Empoli FC to a 1-0 road victory over Mantova in Serie B play Sunday at Stadio Danilo Martelli.

Nasti’s decisive finish, assisted by David Wieser, defied pre-match projections that heavily favored the hosts. Interstat’s game simulator had predicted a 2-1 Mantova win, and its ELO system gave Mantova a 69.4% probability of victory.

The match was a contentious affair, featuring seven yellow cards. Wieser, Gabriele Guarino, César Falletti, Salvatore Elia, Francesco Ruocco, Nasti and Simone Trimboli were all booked.

The result gives Empoli a winning start to its Serie B campaign, while Mantova begins its season with a defeat.
