NICE, France (Interstat) — Nice opened its Ligue 1 season with a 2-0 victory over Lille on Wednesday at Allianz Riviera. The hosts controlled the match, with Isak Jansson breaking the deadlock in the 87th minute before Nice added a second goal late. The win gives Nice a perfect start to the French top-flight campaign, while Lille begins with a loss. The result defied the pregame projection from Interstat, which had simulated a 1-1 draw despite giving Nice a high probability to win. The match was a physical affair, featuring six yellow cards issued by the officiating crew.
