LEVERKUSEN, Germany (Interstat) — Two of the Bundesliga’s form teams will clash Saturday when Bayer Leverkusen hosts Borussia Dortmund at the BayArena.

The matchup pits a surging Leverkusen side, fresh off a statement 2-0 victory over Manchester City in the Champions League on Tuesday, against a Dortmund squad that is coming off a dominant 4-0 European win of its own against Villarreal.

Leverkusen has won four of its last five matches across all competitions, with its only recent blemish a 3-0 loss to rival Bayern Munich. The team’s defense has been formidable, securing clean sheets in three of those victories.

Dortmund’s form has been more volatile. The emphatic win over Villarreal was preceded by a 3-3 league draw with Stuttgart and a shocking 2-0 loss to 1860 München. Dortmund’s attack has shown it can be explosive, but consistency has been an issue.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, Dortmund is projected for a narrow 2-1 road victory. The result could have significant implications near the top of the Bundesliga table.

Following this fixture, both teams face congested schedules. Dortmund will immediately turn around to face Leverkusen again on Sunday, this time in a Regionalliga fixture, before resuming its Champions League campaign. Leverkusen will also continue its European pursuits against Newcastle United next Wednesday.
