Gangwon vs Shanghai Haigang FC
Preview: Gangwon vs. Shanghai Haigang FC in AFC Champions League
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — A struggling Shanghai Haigang FC side will look to find its first win of the AFC Champions League campaign when it visits South Korea’s Gangwon FC on Wednesday.
The Group H matchup at Gangneung Stadium pits a Gangwon team coming off a road draw against a Shanghai squad mired in a prolonged scoring drought.
Shanghai Haigang FC, the Chinese Super League representative, has failed to win in its first six group stage matches (0-1-5). Its most recent result was a 0-0 draw at Johor Darul Ta’zim FC on Dec. 9, 2025. The club has been shut out in four of its six continental games this season, managing just two total goals.
Gangwon, meanwhile, earned a valuable point with a 2-2 draw at Buriram United on that same December date. The K League club has shown more attacking punch, scoring in four of its six matches, including a wild 4-3 victory over Japan’s Vissel Kobe in October. Its form has been inconsistent, however, with three losses.
The historical data favors the hosts. When the sides met in Shanghai on Sept. 16, 2025, Gangwon secured a 2-1 victory.
According to Interstat’s game simulator, Shanghai’s woes are projected to continue with a predicted 2-1 loss on Wednesday. That model suggests Gangwon’s offense will break through against a Shanghai defense that has conceded 10 goals in six games.
For Shanghai, the match is a critical chance to salvage pride and build momentum before hosting South Korea’s Ulsan HD in its group stage finale on Feb. 18. Gangwon will travel to face Australia’s Melbourne City FC on that same date, with both teams seeking to improve their standing in the final matchday.
Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. local time (1000 GMT) on Wednesday, Feb. 11, 2026.
