BAGHDAD (Interstat) — Al Ahli Saudi Club delivered a commanding 5-0 victory over Al Shorta SC in AFC Champions League play Monday at Al Zawra’a Stadium. All five goals came from substitutes in a second-half surge.

Roger Ibañez opened the scoring in the 30th minute. Ivan Toney added another before the hour mark. Galeno, Saleh Waheeb and Ziyad Al Johani scored in a 14-minute span to complete the rout. The win improves Al Ahli’s group stage record to four wins, one loss and one draw. Al Shorta remains winless in the competition at zero wins, five losses and two draws. The result defied a pregame statistical model that favored the Iraqi side.
