SHANGHAI (Interstat) — Substitute Tetsushi Yamakawa recorded a goal and an assist Wednesday as Japan’s Vissel Kobe defeated Shanghai Shenhua FC 2-0 in an AFC Champions League match at Shanghai Stadium.

Yamakawa set up fellow substitute Yōsuke Ideguchi’s opening goal in the 31st minute before heading in his own score eight minutes later. The victory defied a pregame projection from Interstat that forecast a 1-1 draw, though its system heavily favored Vissel Kobe to win.

The result gives Vissel Kobe a winning start to their continental campaign, while Shanghai Shenhua begins with a loss.
