RIYADH, Saudi Arabia (Interstat) — Al Hilal opened its AFC Champions League campaign with a commanding 4-0 victory over Al Shorta SC on Tuesday at Kingdom Arena. Forward Marcos Leonardo led the rout with two headed goals, while Sergej Milinković-Savić also scored with his head. Defender João Cancelo added a late fourth goal. The match turned decisively when Al Shorta SC’s Ahmed Yahya received a red card in the 61st minute after being shown a yellow card just eight minutes prior. The lopsided result was in line with pregame projections that heavily favored the home side.
