Seoul vs Cheng Rongcheng
SEOUL, South Korea (Interstat) — AFC Champions League group stage play resumes Tuesday as FC Seoul hosts China’s Cheng Rongcheng in a pivotal match for both clubs.
Seoul (1-1-0) looks to rebound at home after a 2-0 loss to Shanghai Shenhua FC on Oct. 22. Their lone Champions League victory was a decisive 3-0 win over Buriram United on Sept. 30. The Korean side has been idle since the Shanghai defeat.
Cheng Rongcheng (1-2-0) enters the match seeking to end a two-game skid in the competition, having fallen 2-0 to Johor Darul Ta’zim and 2-1 to Ulsan. Their form across all competitions is also a concern, with a 2-1 home loss to Henan FC last Friday marking their third defeat in four outings. Their only win in any competition since mid-September was a 1-0 victory over Gangwon.
Despite the contrasting recent schedules, Interstat’s game simulator projects an upset, favoring the struggling Chinese side with a 2-1 final score.
The match will be the first of a crucial double-header for both teams. Seoul travels to face Shanghai Haigang on Nov. 25, while Cheng Rongcheng hosts Japan’s S’frecce Hiroshima on the same date.
