TAMALE, Ghana (Interstat) — Karela opened its Ghana Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over Asante Kotoko on Sunday at Aliu Mahama Sports Stadium.

The match’s lone goal came in the 42nd minute from midfielder Malik Abubakar, securing the win for the home side. The result defied a pregame projection from Interstat, whose simulator had predicted a 1-0 victory for Asante Kotoko. However, its ELO system gave Karela a 61.6 percent probability to win.

With the loss, Asante Kotoko begins its league campaign 0-1, while Karela starts 1-0. Both teams’ records across all competitions mirror their league starts.
