GVVV vs HHC Hardenberg

VEENENDAAL, Netherlands (Interstat) — Substitute Lars Spit delivered a goal and an assist off the bench to propel HHC Hardenberg to a 2-1 comeback victory over GVVV in a Tweede Divisie match on Saturday.

The result at Sportpark Panhuis extended HHC Hardenberg’s recent strong form and completed a season sweep of their league opponent.

The home side, GVVV, entered the match as a significant favorite according to statistical models, but it was the visitors who found the decisive moments in the second half to secure all three points.

The first half was a tightly contested affair, with the deadlock broken on the half-hour mark. Spit, who had been introduced as a substitute, made an immediate impact by firing HHC Hardenberg into the lead in the 30th minute.

GVVV responded after the break, leveling the score in the 51st minute. Midfielder Quincy Veenhof found the net to bring the hosts even and shift the momentum in front of the home supporters.

The match then turned tense in a three-minute span near the hour mark. GVVV’s Thomas Reinders received a yellow card in the 57th minute, followed by quick bookings for HHC Hardenberg’s Quiermo Dumay and the already influential Spit in the 60th minute.

The decisive blow came in the 75th minute. Spit turned provider this time, setting up fellow substitute Maarten Pouwels, who scored to restore HHC Hardenberg’s advantage at 2-1. Serginho Fatima was credited with a secondary assist on the winning goal, while Dumay had the primary assist on Veenhof’s earlier equalizer for GVVV.

GVVV pushed for a second equalizer in the dying moments, but the HHC Hardenberg defense held firm. The match concluded with a late yellow card for HHC Hardenberg’s Serginho Fatima in the fourth minute of stoppage time.

With the win, HHC Hardenberg improved its Tweede Divisie record to 15 wins, 10 losses and four draws this season. The team sits in a solid mid-table position and has now lost only once in its last five league outings. GVVV’s record moved to 11 wins, 13 losses and six draws, leaving them in the bottom half of the table as the season enters its final weeks.

The victory also marked a second consecutive win over GVVV this season, following a 3-2 triumph in the reverse fixture on Nov. 8.

Statistical analysis from Interstat had heavily favored GVVV pre-match, projecting them with a 75.2 percent probability to win and simulating a 1-1 draw. HHC Hardenberg’s performance defied those projections, showcasing the effectiveness of their substitutions and their resilience on the road.

HHC Hardenberg will look to continue its momentum next Saturday when it travels to face ACV W. GVVV will aim to rebound in its next fixture, a road match against KVV Quick Boys, also scheduled for April 18.
