Barendrecht vs ACV

BARENDRECHT, Netherlands (Interstat) — In a frenetic and chaotic Tweede Divisie match that defied pregame projections, Barendrecht edged visiting ACV 4-3 on Saturday at Sportpark De Bongerd Veld 1, securing a victory in its league opener.

The match, a seven-goal spectacle featuring a rapid-fire trio of scores in a stunning five-minute span just before halftime, provided an immediate boost to Barendrecht’s campaign while leaving ACV to search for its first points of the season.

Interstat’s game simulator had projected a more conservative 2-1 win for the hosts, with its ELO rating system giving Barendrecht a 79.3 percent probability to win. The actual result confirmed the favored side’s victory but arrived via a far more turbulent and offensively explosive path than anticipated.

After a opening half-hour that saw more yellow cards than serious chances, with ACV’s Tim Lemmen and Lars Dijk booked in the 6th and 12th minutes respectively, the game erupted late in the first half.

Lemmen, who would later be substituted, broke the deadlock for the visitors in the 39th minute, slotting home to give ACV a surprising lead. That advantage was shockingly short-lived. Barendrecht’s response was swift and devastating. Just three minutes later, forward Olek Mrowicki equalized, calming the home supporters.

The turnaround was completed two minutes after that, in the 44th minute, as Barendrecht substitute Kian Slor announced his impact on the game with his first goal of the afternoon, sending the hosts into the break with a 2-1 lead and all momentum.

Barendrecht emerged from halftime determined to solidify its position, and midfielder Joey Jongman doubled the lead in the 62nd minute, making it 3-1. The match appeared to be slipping away from ACV, but the visitors found a lifeline shortly after. Ryniño Rimon pulled a goal back for ACV, narrowing the deficit to 3-2 and setting up a tense final twenty-five minutes.

The pivotal sequence arrived in the late stages. First, Jongman struck again for Barendrecht, netting his second goal of the game to restore the two-goal cushion at 4-2. Yet ACV, demonstrating resilience, immediately countered. Slor, proving to be a super-sub for Barendrecht, delivered his second goal of the match moments later, but crucially, it was an own goal that cut the lead back to 4-3.

That own goal ensured a nervy finish for the home side, but Barendrecht’s defense managed to see out the remaining minutes despite persistent pressure. The frantic conclusion was punctuated by a late yellow card shown to Barendrecht defender Jay Brand in the 83rd minute.

The result gives Barendrecht a winning start to its Tweede Divisie season, moving its record to 1-0-0 in the competition and across all competitions. ACV, meanwhile, begins its campaign 0-1-0 in both league and overall play.

Key individual performances defined the offensive outburst. Barendrecht’s Joey Jongman led his side with a brace, while substitute Kian Slor was directly involved in three goals, scoring twice for Barendrecht, albeit with one being the damaging own goal. For ACV, Tim Lemmen contributed a goal and an assist before being substituted, and Olek Mrowicki also found the net. Assists were recorded by ACV’s Lars Dijk and Sietze de Klerk, and Barendrecht’s Jay Brand.
