DOHA, Qatar (Interstat) — Al Sadd routed Umm Salal 8-3 in a Stars League match Saturday at Al-Khwar Stadium, far surpassing expectations in a high-scoring affair. Substitute Roberto Firmino led the onslaught with a hat trick, scoring in the 24th, 65th and 70th minutes. The visiting team’s eight-goal outburst defied a pregame projection of a 2-1 win by Interstat, which gave Al Sadd a 73% probability to win. The victory gives Al Sadd a 1-0 record to start the league season, while Umm Salal begins 0-1.
