Salisbury Aims to Avenge Recent Loss Against Weston-Super-Mare

SALISBURY, England (Interstat) — Salisbury seeks to overturn a recent defeat and halt a slide in form when it hosts Weston-Super-Mare in a National League South fixture on Monday.

The match at the Raymond McEnhill Stadium is a quick turnaround for both sides following weekend losses. Salisbury (12-11-10) fell 2-1 at AFC Totton on Friday, while Weston-Super-Mare (13-9-11) suffered a 3-1 defeat at Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday.

The visitors, however, hold a psychological edge from the most recent head-to-head meeting. Weston-Super-Mare earned a 1-0 home victory over Salisbury on Dec. 30, a result the hosts are eager to avenge as they fight for playoff positioning.

Form lines are diverging. Salisbury has lost three of its last four matches across all competitions, a stark contrast to a previously solid run. Manager Steve Claridge will demand a response, looking to forwards Tom Blair and Charlie Austin to reignite an attack that has been held to one goal or fewer in five of the last six outings.

Weston-Super-Mare’s form has been inconsistent, mixing promising wins with heavy defeats. A 4-0 loss to Chesham United and 3-0 defeat to Torquay United in recent weeks bookend a resilient 2-1 victory over Maidenhead United. Their away record shows both promise and vulnerability, making them a unpredictable opponent for a Salisbury side defending its home pitch.

Key for the Seagulls will be forward Reuben Reid, whose experience is vital in a tight midfield battle. Manager Scott Bartlett will hope his side can replicate the defensive solidity shown in the December fixture rather than the lapses seen in recent heavy losses.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 1-1 draw, a result that would offer little to either club’s playoff aspirations as the season enters its final weeks. With crucial fixtures looming for both, securing three points is the priority.

For Salisbury, matches at Tonbridge Angels and home to Horsham follow. Weston-Super-Mare faces a busy April, hosting Enfield Town and Horsham before a trip to Dagenham & Redbridge.

Kickoff is set for 3 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) on Monday, April 6.
