Yeovil Town Upsets Wealdstone With Two Second-Half Goals in National League Opener

YEOVIL TOWN, England (Interstat) — Yeovil Town opened its National League season with a 2-0 road victory over Wealdstone on Wednesday, defying pregame projections.

Playing at Grosvenor Vale in Ruislip, the visitors broke a scoreless deadlock with two goals in a 10-minute span. Substitute Terrell Works scored in the 38th minute, followed by a goal from fellow substitute James Daly in the 48th. Both were assisted by midfielder Dominic Hutchinson.

Wealdstone’s task grew harder when Troy Perret received a red card in the 50th minute. Yeovil Town’s Hutchinson and Jake Wannell received late yellow cards.

The result was an upset, as statistical models heavily favored Wealdstone to win. Yeovil Town begins the campaign 1-0, while Wealdstone starts 0-1.
