MORECAMBE, England (Interstat) — Morecambe and Braintree Town opened their National League seasons with a 1-1 draw Saturday at Mazuma Mobile Stadium. The match was decided in second-half stoppage time.

Substitute Lewis Walker scored for visiting Braintree Town in the sixth minute of added time, assisted by Aidan Francis. Morecambe’s equalizer came from midfielder Jack Nolan, who also assisted his team’s goal, with Liam Hogan providing the helper.

The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored Morecambe. Five yellow cards were issued in a physical contest. Both clubs now hold identical records across all competitions this season.
