Linfield vs Bangor
Linfield Aims to Rebound Against Visiting Bangor in Premiership Clash
BELFAST, Northern Ireland (Interstat) — Linfield will look to halt a recent slide and complete a season sweep of Bangor when the sides meet in a Northern Irish Premiership fixture at Windsor Park on Saturday.
The hosts enter the match after a disappointing 3-1 away loss to Coleraine on Tuesday, a result that extended their winless run to three matches. Prior to that, Linfield fell 1-0 to Glentoran and 2-1 to Glenavon in late December. Despite the slump, David Healy’s squad had shown strong form earlier, including a 4-0 rout of Crusaders on Dec. 13.
Bangor, meanwhile, arrives with momentum from a 2-0 home victory over Ballymena United on Tuesday. That win snapped a two-game losing streak for the visitors, who had previously fallen 1-0 to Dungannon Swifts and 2-0 to Coleraine.
The recent head-to-head history heavily favors Linfield. The Blues have won both meetings this season, securing a 1-0 victory at Bangor on Nov. 22 and a 3-0 win at Clandeboye Park on Sept. 26.
Current form presents a contrasting picture. Linfield has taken just one point from its last three league outings, while Bangor has collected four points from its last three matches, including the win over Ballymena and a draw with Cliftonville.
A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a close Linfield victory, predicting a 2-1 final score.
The match is a rescheduled fixture, with the teams set to meet again at Windsor Park just one week later, on Jan. 10. Following Saturday’s contest, Linfield faces a quick turnaround with a trip to Carrick Rangers on Tuesday. Bangor’s next match is not until Jan. 17, when it hosts Portadown.
Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time at Windsor Park in Belfast.
