Spain Routs Sweden in Women’s Nations League Opener
MALAGA, Spain (Interstat) — Spain’s women’s national team opened its UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign with a dominant 4-0 victory over Sweden on Friday at Estadio La Rosaleda. Alexia Putellas led the charge, scoring twice in the first half. She opened the scoring in the 11th minute before Claudia Pina doubled the lead in the 32nd. Putellas netted her second just three minutes later. Pina added a second goal of her own in stoppage time to complete the rout. The lopsided result far exceeded the projection from Interstat, which gave Spain a 71.8% chance to win and predicted a 2-1 scoreline. Sweden received four yellow cards in the match.
