DUBLIN (Interstat) — Ireland’s women’s team opened its UEFA Women’s Nations League campaign with a decisive 4-2 victory over Belgium on Friday at Aviva Stadium. The match erupted in the second half with five goals in a 30-minute span. Katie McCabe led Ireland with two goals, while Marissa Sheva and Marie Detruyer also scored. Belgium’s goals came from Tessa Wullaert and Nicky Evrard. The result defied a pregame projection that favored a narrower win for Ireland.
