RIO DE JANEIRO (Interstat) — Flamengo defeated Santos 3-2 in a Carioca Série A match Sunday at Estadio Jornalista Mário Filho, overcoming a late equalizer to secure a dramatic stoppage-time winner.

Defender Léo Pereira opened the scoring in the 37th minute before Santos midfielder Jorge Carrascal leveled the match. Bruno Henrique put Flamengo ahead in the 81st, only for Santos substitute Gabriel Bontempo to tie it again in the 89th. Flamengo substitute Lautaro Díaz then scored the decisive goal two minutes into added time. The result defied a pregame projection of a 1-1 draw. Flamengo improved to 2-1 in the competition while Santos fell to 0-2.
