Internacional vs Atletico Mineiro

RIO DE JANEIRO (Interstat) — Internacional and Atletico Mineiro, two sides seeking momentum in a middling Carioca Série A campaign, will face off on Sunday at Estadio Beira-Rio.

The matchup pits an Atletico Mineiro squad (8-10-7) coming off a confidence-boosting victory against Internacional (6-10-6), which is mired in a slump.

Atletico Mineiro arrives following a 1-0 home win over Ceará SC on Oct. 25. That result provided a needed lift after a 1-0 loss to Paulista on Oct. 18. The visitors also hold a psychological edge, having defeated Internacional 2-0 in their last encounter on June 12.

Conversely, Internacional has lost two straight, including a 1-0 defeat to Fluminense on Oct. 25 and a 1-0 loss to Bahia on Oct. 22. Their form at Beira-Rio has been inconsistent, with a 3-1 loss to Mirassol FC on Oct. 15 highlighting their struggles.

Despite their superior overall record across all competitions (31-23-24), Atletico Mineiro has been inconsistent in league play. Internacional’s broader form (28-27-19) also fails to inspire confidence for a home breakthrough.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the contest is projected to end in a 1-1 draw, underscoring the evenly matched, if underwhelming, nature of this fixture.

Both teams will look to use this match as a springboard before a quick turnaround in midweek. Atletico Mineiro will host Bahia on Nov. 5, while Internacional will travel to face EC Vitoria the same day.
