Flamengo vs Sport Recife

RIO DE JANEIRO (Interstat) — First-place Flamengo looks to rebound from a rare loss when it hosts last-place Sport Recife in a Campeonato Carioca Série A matchup on Saturday.

Flamengo (23-5-7) sits atop the league table but is coming off a 1-0 road defeat to Fortaleza on Oct. 25. That loss snapped a run of strong form that had seen the club win three of its previous four matches, including a 3-2 victory over rival Palmeiras.

Sport Recife (2-13-6) enters the contest at the opposite end of the standings, mired in a deep slump. The club has not won in its last six matches across all competitions, most recently falling 2-1 at home to Mirassel FC on Oct. 25. Its last victory was a 1-0 result against Paulista on Sept. 21.

The statistical service Interstat projects a 1-1 draw for the contest, a result that would be a significant achievement for the visitors given the stark contrast in the teams’ seasons. Flamengo boasts a dominant 52-11-20 record across all competitions in 2025, while Sport Recife has struggled to a 17-34-19 mark.

Following this match, Flamengo will travel to face Sao Paulo on Nov. 5, while Sport Recife will host Juventude on the same date. The two clubs will meet again in a return fixture on Nov. 15 in Recife.
