VIENNA (Interstat) — Substitute Oleksandr Romanchuk scored the lone goal in the 37th minute to propel FC Universitatea Craiova to a 1-0 road victory over SK Rapid Wien in UEFA Europa Conference League group stage play Thursday at Allianz Stadion.

The result was an upset, as the home side was a narrow favorite to win. The match was a physical, disjointed affair featuring 10 yellow cards. Romanchuk’s finish, assisted by fellow substitute Adrián Rus, decided the contest. The win gives Universitatea Craiova a perfect start in the competition, while Rapid Wien begins its campaign with a defeat.
