WARSAW, Poland (Interstat) — Shakhtar Donetsk looks to build on its European experience against newcomer UMF Breioablik of Iceland when the sides meet in a UEFA Europa Conference League group stage match on Thursday.

Due to the ongoing war in Ukraine, Shakhtar will host the match at Stadion Wojska Polskiego in Warsaw, Poland.

Shakhtar (1-1-2, 5 points) brings a significant edge in continental competition over a Breioablik (0-0-1, 1 point) side in its first major European group stage campaign. The Ukrainian club’s form, however, has been inconsistent. They are coming off a 2-1 domestic loss to Dynamo Kyiv but had a 4-0 victory over FK Kudrivka in their previous outing.

Breioablik arrives seeking its first win in the competition after a 0-0 draw with Kuopion Palloseura in its last group match. The Icelandic club’s overall season form has been a struggle at 1-3-2 across all competitions, including a 7-1 loss to Lech Poznan in a qualifying round.

The Interstat game simulator projects a 2-0 victory for Shakhtar Donetsk.

Shakhtar’s next match is a domestic fixture against SK Poltava on Sunday. Breioablik’s next Conference League match is at home against Samsunspor on Nov. 27.
