VALLETTA, Malta (Interstat) — Floriana opened its Maltese Premier League campaign with a 2-0 victory over Birkirkara on Saturday at Tony Bezzina Stadium. Mustapha Jah gave the hosts an immediate lead, scoring just four minutes into the match. The result was sealed in second-half stoppage time when Matteja Veselji added Floriana’s second goal. The win defied the pre-game projection from Interstat, whose simulator had forecast a 1-1 draw. Its ELO system, however, had given Floriana a 69 percent probability to win. Both teams now hold 0-0 records to start the new season.
