AUBAGNE, France (Interstat) — Joseph Atangana scored in the 23rd minute as Rouen defeated Aubagne 1-0 on Friday in a National 1 match at Stade de Lattre de Tassigny.

The decisive goal came from the substitute, assisted by defender Nohim Chibani. The result defied pregame projections, as statistical models favored Aubagne to win or draw.

Rouen improved its league record to one win and one draw. Aubagne remains without a victory. The match was physical, featuring five yellow cards, including one to Chibani in the ninth minute.

Rouen next hosts Le Puy Foot on Feb. 27.
