VERONA, Italy (Interstat) — Hellas Verona’s under-20 side will host Cagliari U20 on Thursday in a Campionato Primavera 1 match, with the visitors looking to replicate a recent head-to-head victory.

The fixture at Verona’s training ground marks a quick turnaround for both clubs in Italy’s top youth league. Cagliari earned a 2-1 win when the sides last met on Oct. 26.

Cagliari (6-7-3) arrives following a narrow 2-1 home defeat to AS Roma on Sunday, which snapped a modest two-game winning streak. Their form has been inconsistent, with recent results including a 5-1 loss at Parma on Jan. 11 but also a 3-0 victory over Frosinone on Jan. 3. They have shown resilience on the road this season, securing wins at Fiorentina and Atalanta in December.

Hellas Verona (4-8-4) enters with momentum after a 2-1 home win against Atalanta on Saturday. That victory highlighted a pattern of competitive draws for Verona, which has seen them tie in four of its last seven matches, including a 3-3 result at Inter and a 1-1 draw with Juventus in December. Their attack has flashed potential, netting four goals in a win at Lazio in November.

According to Interstat’s game simulator, the contest is projected to end in a 1-1 draw.

The match will be the first of a busy stretch for both squads. Cagliari’s next match is at home against Sassuolo U20 on Monday. Hellas Verona will travel to face Cesena U20 next Monday.
