Preview: Fiorentina U20 Hosts Cagliari U20 in Campionato Primavera 1 Clash

FLORENCE, Italy (Interstat) — Fiorentina U20 will look to capitalize on home advantage when it hosts Cagliari U20 in a Campionato Primavera 1 match on Sunday, Dec. 21, 2025.

The matchup at Fiorentina’s training complex features two sides with contrasting recent form as Italy’s top U20 league resumes its schedule.

Fiorentina (6-5-3) enters with momentum from a four-match unbeaten run across all competitions. Its most recent result was a 1-1 draw on the road against Cremonese U20 on Wednesday. Prior to that, the Viola secured a 2-1 home victory over Cesena U20 last Sunday. The Florence-based side has proven resilient, earning draws in three of its last five outings while demonstrating attacking potency at home.

Cagliari (4-3-7) snapped a three-match winless skid with a narrow 1-0 home victory over Atalanta U20 on Wednesday. That result provided a needed boost for a squad that had conceded 10 goals in its previous three matches, including a 4-3 defeat to Inter U20 on Dec. 13. The Sardinian side has struggled for consistency, particularly on the road, where it has secured just one win this season.

A statistical projection from Interstat forecasts a 2-1 victory for the home side.

The game offers a mid-table clash with both teams seeking points to solidify their standing. Fiorentina will rely on a balanced attack that has scored in 13 of 14 league matches this season. Cagliari’s challenge will be to translate its recent defensive resilience on the road, where it has kept only one clean sheet.

Following this match, Fiorentina will next visit Lazio U20 on Saturday, Jan. 3. Cagliari’s next fixture is at home against Frosinone U20 on the same date.

Kickoff is scheduled for 3 p.m. local time (1400 GMT) on Sunday.
