STOKE-ON-TRENT, England (Interstat) — Port Vale and Wigan Athletic opened their League One campaigns with a 0-0 draw Sunday at Vale Park.

The match failed to produce a goal, defying a Interstat projection of a 1-1 final. The system had given Port Vale a 62.5% probability to win on its home pitch. The primary moment of note came in second-half stoppage time when Wigan substitute James Carragher received a yellow card.

The result leaves both clubs with identical records to start the season: 0 wins, 0 losses and 1 draw in League One, mirroring their overall records across all competitions.
