Blackpool Edges Port Vale in Five-Goal League One Thriller
BLACKPOOL, England (March 17, 2026) (Interstat) — Blackpool opened its League One season with a 3-2 victory over Port Vale in a back-and-forth match Tuesday at Bloomfield Road Stadium.
Substitute Dajaune Brown gave the hosts a lead in the second minute, but Port Vale responded with goals from Niall Ennis before halftime and Rhys Walters in the 59th minute to take a 2-1 advantage. Blackpool rallied with two goals in a nine-minute span, as Ashley Fletcher equalized in the 72nd and Reuell Walters, a defender, netted the 81st-minute winner.
The result gave Blackpool a winning start to the campaign, defying a pregame projection that favored a draw. Port Vale’s Martin Sherif, Liam Gordon and Tyler Magloire received late yellow cards in the defeat.
