AFC Wimbledon Rolls Past Blackpool in League One Season Opener at Home

LONDON (Interstat) — AFC Wimbledon opened its League One season with a commanding 4-1 victory over Blackpool on Wednesday afternoon at The Cherry Red Records Stadium.

The home side defied a pre-match projection of a 1-1 draw from Interstat, which had given Wimbledon a 69.5% probability to win. Defender Ryan Johnson opened the scoring in the 11th minute. Substitute Niall Ennis doubled the lead in the 63rd.

Blackpool found a late consolation, but Wimbledon sealed the dominant performance with two stoppage-time goals. The result gives Wimbledon an ideal start to the campaign, while Blackpool begins with a defeat.
