LUTON, England (Interstat) — Substitute Lamine Fanne scored in the 77th minute to lift Luton Town to a 1-0 victory over Northampton Town in a League One match Saturday at Sixfields Stadium. The lone goal defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side. Fanne, who also received a yellow card, provided the decisive finish in a physical contest that featured multiple bookings. The result gives Luton an opening-day win in the league competition.
