Walsall Edges Shrewsbury Town in League Two Contest

SHREWSBURY, England (Interstat) — Priestley Farquharson scored twice to lead Walsall to a 2-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town in an English League Two match Saturday at The Croud Meadow.

Farquharson opened the scoring in the 28th minute. Shrewsbury’s Iwan Morgan equalized just before halftime, converting in the sixth minute of first-half stoppage time. Farquharson secured the win for the visitors with his second goal in the 62nd minute.

Walsall improved its League Two record to 15 wins, 10 losses and 8 draws. Shrewsbury Town fell to 10 wins, 17 losses and 11 draws. William Boyle of Shrewsbury and Walsall’s Sam Hornby received yellow cards. The result defied a pregame statistical projection that favored the home side.
