SENDAI, Japan (Interstat) — Substitute Sena Igarashi scored in the 82nd minute to deliver Iwaki SC a 1-0 upset victory over Vegalta Sendai in a J2 League match Saturday at Yurtec Stadium Sendai. The game-winning sequence began with defender Masayuki Okuyama, who was later shown a yellow card, assisting fellow substitute Yusuke Ishida, who then set up Igarashi for the decisive finish. The result defied pregame projections that heavily favored the home side. With the win, Iwaki SC begins its league campaign with a victory, while Vegalta Sendai starts with a loss.
