Ehime vs V-Varen Nagasaki
MATSUYAMA, Japan (Interstat) — V-Varen Nagasaki delivered a commanding road performance on Saturday, dismantling Ehime FC 4-0 in a J2 League match at Ningineer Stadium that was never in doubt.
The visitors, firmly entrenched in the upper echelon of the league, overwhelmed a struggling Ehime side from the opening minute and never relented, showcasing their depth with goals from three different substitutes.
The match’s outcome was signaled almost immediately. V-Varen Nagasaki seized control from the opening kickoff, with Hijiri Onaga, who entered the game as a substitute, finding the net just one minute into the contest. The early goal set a dominant tone for the visitors and placed Ehime under immediate pressure.
Yuta Fukazawa, a midfielder for Nagasaki, was shown a yellow card in the 20th minute, one of the few interruptions to his team’s fluid attack. The first-half lead was comfortable, and Nagasaki’s defensive organization prevented Ehime from mounting any significant threat.
The second half continued in the same vein, with Nagasaki controlling possession and patiently probing for more goals. Their persistence was rewarded in the 90th minute when another substitute, Tsubasa Kasayanagi, sealed the comprehensive victory with a late strike. A third substitute, Matheus Jesus, also scored in the match, underscoring the impactful contributions from Nagasaki’s bench. Fukazawa was credited with an assist on one of the goals.
The lopsided result was largely anticipated. Interstat’s ELO system had projected V-Varen Nagasaki with an 87.70 percent probability to win, though the final margin of victory exceeded the simulator’s projection of a 1-1 draw.
The victory solidifies V-Varen Nagasaki’s strong standing in the J2 League. Their season record in the competition now improves to 23 wins, 5 losses and 15 draws. Across all competitions, they now hold a record of 27 wins, 7 losses and 15 draws. The team has been in formidable form, including a 4-0 thrashing of Ventforet Kofu in their previous league outing on Oct. 18 and a run that has seen them lose just once in their last ten matches across all tournaments.
For Ehime, the defeat extends a deeply challenging season. Their record in the J2 League falls to 4 wins, 25 losses and 13 draws. Their overall record across all competitions is now 5 wins, 27 losses and 13 draws. The team has managed only one victory in its last ten matches and has consistently struggled to score, being shut out in their last two outings, including a 3-1 loss to Jubilo Iwata on Oct. 26.
The result avenges a 1-1 draw between the two sides in their previous meeting on May 3.
V-Varen Nagasaki will look to continue its push up the table when it hosts Mito Hollyhock on Nov. 22. Ehime, seeking to halt its slide, returns to action at home against Roasso Kumamoto on Nov. 23.
