Ehime vs Jubilo Iwata

TOKYO (Interstat) — A stark contrast in fortunes will be on display Sunday when promotion-chasing Jubilo Iwata visits relegation-threatened Ehime FC in a J2 League match.

Jubilo Iwata (20-14-7) enters the contest firmly in the hunt for a top-flight return, while Ehime (4-22-10) sits at the bottom of the table, mired in a difficult season. The matchup at Ningineer Stadium will be the second meeting this year; Jubilo dominated the first encounter with a 4-0 victory on June 15.

Jubilo looks to rebound from a stunning 4-0 home defeat to Tokushima Vortis on Oct. 18, a result that snapped a run of generally positive form. Prior to that loss, they had won three of their previous four league matches.

Ehime’s struggles have been persistent. They are winless in their last three outings, most recently falling 2-1 to Iwaki SC on Oct. 18. Their lone recent bright spot was a 3-0 victory over Oita Trinita on Sept. 27, one of just four league wins all season.

Despite the lopsided records and a head-to-head history favoring Jubilo, Interstat’s game simulator projects a 1-1 draw for Sunday’s contest. The result would be a significant point for Ehime in their fight for survival, while Jubilo will be desperate for a full three points to keep pace in the promotion race.
