Late Okubo Goal Lifts Eastern Over Eastern District in Hong Kong Derby

HONG KONG (Interstat) — Yu Okubo’s 65th-minute strike was the difference as Eastern edged Eastern District 1-0 in a Premier League match Saturday at Mong Kok Stadium.

The decisive moment came when Okubo found space in the area and finished calmly, breaking a deadlock in a tightly contested local derby. The visiting Eastern District, which had won the previous meeting between the sides in November, failed to mount a response as Eastern’s defense secured a clean sheet.

The result improved Eastern’s league record to 6-6-4, moving the club into the middle of the table. Eastern District fell to 5-8-3 with the narrow defeat. The game was the lone fixture in the Hong Kong Premier League on the day.
