TAI PO, Hong Kong (Interstat) — Tai Po FC opened its Hong Kong Premier League season with a stunning 3-1 victory over favored Eastern on Sunday at Tai Po Sports Ground. The result defied projections, as statistical models heavily favored Eastern to win.

Paulinho opened the scoring just before halftime. A chaotic three-minute span then decided the match, with Calum Hall equalizing for Eastern in stoppage time, only for Michel Renner to put Tai Po back ahead moments after the restart. James Temelkovski sealed the win with a goal in the 91st minute. Both clubs were playing their first match of the league campaign.
