EL GOUNA, Egypt (Jan. 6, 2026) (Interstat) — Petrojet delivered a stunning 3-1 road victory over El Gouna in an Egyptian League Cup match Tuesday at Khaled Bichara Stadium, defying pregame projections.

Interstat’s game simulator had projected a 1-1 draw, and its ELO system gave El Gouna a 70.1% probability to win. Petrojet overturned that logic with two late goals.

Saber El Shimy opened the scoring for Petrojet in the 26th minute. After Adham Hamed equalized for the hosts, Ojo Samuel put Petrojet ahead for good in the 87th minute. Substitute Mostafa El Badri sealed the win in the fifth minute of stoppage time.

El Shimy, Samuel and El Badri each finished with a goal and an assist for Petrojet. The match featured six yellow cards. Petrojet begins its League Cup campaign 1-0, while El Gouna starts 0-1.
